Breed Information

Australian Wolfalike Dog

What to Expect From Our Puppies

We have proudly been breeding the Shepsky (Siberian Husky - Shepherd mixed-breed dogs) since 2020. Our dogs may also be described as Wolfalikes, a term used for mixed-breed dogs selectively bred to resemble the striking appearance of a wolf while retaining the temperament and characteristics of a domesticated companion dog.

While some of our dogs can be quite wolfy in appearance, they contain absolutely NO wolf content.

Most of our litters are predominantly Siberian Husky, combined with German Shepherd and/or Belgian Shepherd (Groenendael). Depending on parentage, some lines may also contain smaller percentages of breeds such as Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed, Akita or Border Collie.

All of our breeding dogs are DNA tested through Embark, allowing us to understand their breed composition and provide this information openly to prospective puppy families.

Temperament & Genetics

While we aim to produce puppies that combine desirable traits from the breeds within their ancestry, every puppy is an individual. Some may inherit stronger characteristics from one breed than another, even within the same litter.

We are always transparent about the breed

composition of our dogs and happy to discuss what this may mean for temperament, energy levels, trainability and other characteristics when helping families determine whether one of our puppies may be suitable for them.

Genetics play an incredibly important role in temperament, and we believe temperament is just as important as health when making breeding decisions.

We do not breed from dogs displaying concerning levels of reactivity, fearfulness, anxiety or aggression. Our goal is to produce confident, stable, social and biddable companions—the kind of dogs that can comfortably become part of everyday family life and accompany their people on adventures.

We strongly encourage prospective families to

read the profiles of both parents on our website. These provide an insight into their personalities, energy levels and individual traits and can help give you an idea of what their puppies may inherit. We are also always happy to answer questions about our dogs.

Living With a Dogs in Wolfsuits Puppy

With predominantly working-breed ancestry, our puppies generally thrive in homes that provide appropriate physical exercise, mental stimulation and involvement in family life.

They are incredibly intelligent dogs and need more than physical exercise alone. Training, enrichment, problem-solving activities, sniffing opportunities and brain games are all important parts of keeping them happy and fulfilled. Without appropriate outlets for their energy and intelligence, they can become bored and potentially destructive.

Our dogs also tend to be very pack-orientated. They love being involved with their families and are happiest when they can spend plenty of time with their people. Many also greatly enjoy the companionship of another compatible dog, particularly in homes where their humans are away for periods during the day.

They are intelligent, affectionate, loyal and often wonderfully sassy characters with plenty of personality.

Above all, our focus at Dogs in Wolfsuits is producing excellent companions—sweet-natured, biddable and adaptable dogs that are a pleasure to live with and can truly become part of the family, wherever life takes you.
