How Our Puppies Are Raised
Our puppies are raised inside our home as part of our family from birth. They are handled with care from their earliest days and gradually introduced to a wide variety of age-appropriate experiences as they grow.
Throughout their time with us, puppies are gently exposed to different textures and surfaces, play equipment, interactive toys, everyday household noises, music, lawn mowers and tractors, storms, friendly dogs and other animals, livestock and people, including children under supervision.
Our aim is to build confidence and resilience through positive early experiences, helping prepare our puppies to adapt to the many different situations they may encounter once they join their new families.
We also incorporate Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) during the appropriate developmental period, followed by continued socialisation, enrichment and confidence-building experiences as the puppies grow.
Health Testing
The parents of our puppies are DNA tested through
Embark for genetically inheritable conditions relevant to their breed ancestry. Our breeding dogs also undergo hip and elbow X-rays and scoring, with results assessed as part of our breeding decisions.
Our health testing is independently reviewed as part of our annual AAPDB breeder requirements.
We take both health and temperament very seriously when selecting dogs for our breeding program, with the aim of giving every litter the best possible foundation.
Applying for a Puppy
Our puppies are available by application only, and placement is not based on a “first in, best dressed” system.
We are located in Australia and place our
puppies within Australia only. We do not send puppies overseas at this time.
Our application form is available by contacting us via email at dogsinwolfsuits@hotmail.com which is our preferred first point of contact.
We generally accept applications from the time a litter is announced on our social media pages until the puppies are approximately 5–7 weeks old. This can vary between litters depending on the number and suitability of applications received. Applications may close earlier, allocations may be decided sooner, or occasionally puppies may remain available beyond this timeframe.
How We Match Our Puppies
Choosing the right home for each puppy is incredibly important to us.
We carefully consider the applications we receive alongside the individual temperaments and needs of each puppy. We also take into account the temperaments and traits of their parents and, wherever possible, the preferences expressed by each applicant.
Our priority is creating the best possible match between puppy and family, rather than simply allocating puppies in the order applications are received.
Once we believe we have identified a suitable potential match, we contact successful applicants to discuss placement further.
During this period we receive a high volume of emails and applications, so we greatly appreciate your patience. Raising a litter requires an enormous amount of time and attention, and our priority will always be caring for our puppies and their mums and giving them the very best possible start to life.
A Note About Appearance
Although we are happy to take preferences regarding appearance into consideration, suitability will always be our priority when matching puppies with their families.
We also cannot guarantee final eye colour in young puppies. Eye colour can continue to develop as they grow, and we have previously had puppies whose eye colour changed between approximately 6–8 weeks of age.
Is One of Our Puppies Right for You?
Our dogs predominantly descend from active and working breeds. Most of our litters are high in Siberian Husky content.
For this reason, it is important that prospective
families understand the needs that can come with this ancestry and are able to provide an appropriate environment, training, enrichment, physical activity and mental stimulation throughout their dog’s life.
We are always happy to discuss the breed composition and expected characteristics of a particular litter with prospective families.

- Wormed every 2 weeks from birth

- Comprehensive puppy guide, including their current feeding schedule and diet, settling-in information and ongoing care guidance
- Puppy pack including a food sample, collar and lead, poop bags, blanket and toy carrying familiar scents, and relevant documentation
- Desexing voucher
- Lifetime breeder support
- Lifetime return-to-breeder policy, helping ensure our dogs never need to enter a shelter or rescue organisation
- Introduction to toilet training
- Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)
- Early Scent Introduction (ESI)
- Ongoing age-appropriate socialisation and enrichment
Volhard Puppy Aptitude Testing at approximately 6 weeks of age may also be available for prospective assistance-dog candidates, conducted with a qualified NDTF trainer.
Families are also invited to join our private Dogs in Wolfsuits Puppy Owners Group on Facebook.
It is a supportive community where owners can share their dogs’ adventures, keep in touch with other Dogs in Wolfsuits families and arrange catch-ups and play dates with dogs living nearby.
Following Their Journey
We regularly share photos, videos and updates of our puppies as they grow through our Facebook and Instagram pages. We love being able to share their development and time with us with you all.
Our responsibility to our puppies does not end when they leave our home. We love keeping in touch with our families and watching our puppies grow into much-loved companions.
Over the years, Dogs in Wolfsuits puppies have gone on to achieve some wonderful things. We have produced qualified assistance and therapy dogs, dogs achieving high levels of obedience training and competing in agility, and dogs enjoying sports such as sledding and canicross with their families.
Some have even ventured into the entertainment world, including one of our puppies appearing as a wolf pup in a US television series, while others have featured in modelling and advertising work.
But whether they go on to achieve something extraordinary or simply spend their lives being a much-loved family companion, our greatest measure of success is seeing our puppies happy, healthy and thriving with families who adore them.
Our Registration
Dogs in Wolfsuits is a registered breeder with the Australian Association of Pet Dog Breeders Inc. (AAPDB) — Member #17741.
As part of our commitment to responsible breeding, we maintain the health, welfare and breeding standards required of our membership and undergo the applicable auditing and verification processes.
